Welcome to our spring specials!

Spring is the favorite season of all nature-lovers. It seems that in spring nature shows itself at its best – first spring flowers that “compete in a beauty contest”, tender spring leaves, fresh green grass, long sunny days, sonorous bird songs…

We can’t help admiring all this and want to spend more time outside. But where exactly shall we go when there is so much beauty on every step?

“Baltics undiscovered” knows the answers!

Easter weekend in Lithuania

Kaunas - Open-Air Museum of Lithuania in Rumshishkis - Birzai Regional park

Easter is the biggest spring festival in the Christian world. Even non-Christians countries have different forms of celebrations around Easter time. Jews feast Passover, the festival that remembers that God saved the nation from slavery in Egypt.  In ancient times, pagans celebrated nature awakening in spring fertility festivals.  For non-religious people it is a nice opportunity for the whole family to gather together.

As the majority of Lithuanians are Catholics, Easter is widely celebrated. That is why the Easter weekend is the perfect timing for visiting Lituania and exploring catholic traditions of this country.

Welcome to Lithuania  with "Baltics Undiscovered"!

This year this program is valid from 19 to 22 of April!

Spring weekend on Muhu Island

Muhu Island, West Estonian Archipelago - UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve

Muhu is the paradise island in the Baltic sea. It is the third largest island in Estonia after Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. It has and area of 198 sq. km. The island is linked to its “big brother” Saaremaa  by a couseway - the largest causeway in Estonia on a national road №10. However the enchanting Muhu still remains less known then its “big brother”. At the same time it is more private and exclusive. No wonder that the only 5- star hotel outside Tallinn – “Pädaste manor” is located there. But the real highlights of the island are nature and rich cultural heritage. Sleepy fishing villages, working windmills, thatched country houses and amazingly dense thickets of juniper fascinate all nature-lovers and holiday-makers that visit the island. There are a lot of things to see and do on Muhu every season. But based on our experience we decided to point out Muhu as a spring destination. If you visit Muhu in the beginning of May, you will be captivated by the atmosphere of blooming spring of a paradise island with incredible biodiversity – first flower carpets, migrating birds, blooming apple trees, cherries, rowan, rose hip, bird cherry and of course dense juniper groves that has already become Muhu’s brand.

“Baltics undiscovered” has selected Muhu’s best locations to enjoy this spring feast.

Welcome to our spring special with “Baltics undiscovered”!

Best timing is from 1st to 15th of May!

Weekend in a blooming garden

Latvia

Riga- Babite, Rhododendron tree nursery – Dobele, Peteris Upitis Lilac Garden-Riga Zoo

Starting point: Riga

Duration: 3 days

Transportation: car, minivan

Best timing: 2-nd half of May

The blooming period is the culmination of each spring. In the middle of May Latvia turns into a blooming garden and impresses guests and locals with diversity of species and colours.

The lilac is the queen of the Latvian garden, and Latvia is deservedly considered the capital of lilac.

We invite you to get to know the story of lilac in Latvia and a person who dedicated his life to lilac cultivation during your visit to the largest lilac garden in Europe in the lovely town of Dobele.

Rhododendrons are not something that we primarily associate with Latvia. However, the only specialised rhododendron tree nursery in the Baltics is located here. Discover breathtaking diversity of the flowering rhododendrons in a pine forest near Riga! It will be memories for a lifetime!

While enjoying the flora, don’t forget about the fauna! Riga Zoo is one of the best in Europe and our absolute favourite. We invite you to visit the zoo and its inhabitants during your weekend in May when it is literally drowing in the lilac flowers.

Enjoy the spring culmination in Latvia’s blooming garden together with a guidebook from Baltics Undiscovered!
