For those interested in spiritual side of life, religious traditions and rituals we’ve designed short weekend itineraries to the Baltic regions, where you can see the most significant shrines and the largest number of churches of different denominations. You can enjoy those routes during your short weekend trips or integrate them easily into your larger trip plan with other summer itineraries from Baltics Undiscovered.

Lithuania Spiritual

The Hill of Crosses – Siauliai – Trakai, Trakai Historical National Park – Vilnius, UNESCO Heritage Site

North and South Lithuania

Best timing – Summer - September

Lithuania is predominantly Roman Catholic and Catholicism plays a significant cultural and social role in the country. Lithuania has maintained a strong religious identity despite periods of foreign domination and Soviet atheism.

The starting point of this spiritual route - the Hill of Crosses in the vicinity of the city of Siauliai - is a major site of Catholic pilgrimage and symbol of devotion to the Catholic faith in Lithuania. UNESCO has named Lithuanian cross crafting in the lists of good safeguarding practices and intangible cultural heritage. Today more than 100 000 crosses are erected on the hill.

Lithuanian capital Vilnius – UNESCO Heritage Site - has always been known as a city of numerous religions and multicultural heritage. A tailor-made guidebook from Baltics Undiscovered will help you to navigate among a huge number of shrines, churches, cathedrals and belltowers during your walking tour in the city.

Only 28 kilometres from Vilnius lies a charming resort town of Trakai, that was built and preserved by people of different nationalities. Here you can find not only a Catholic Basilica and an Orthodox church, but also a Karaim Kenesa- a church of small Turkic-speaking religious minority resettled to Trakai from Crimea in 1397.

Detailed trip design and tailor-made guidebook from Baltics Undiscovered will make your spiritual tour pleasant and informative. Immerse yourself into spiritual world together with Baltics Undiscovered!
